The road to health?

Some 4 weeks or so ago I was diagnosed and medicated for type 2 diabetes.  I shouldn't have been as rocked about it as I was, given that it has been hanging around threatening for 5 or more years.  I suppose I had hoped that it would never eventuate.

Two weeks later after having started my medication and eating all the right things and in smaller quantities I went back for a check up and I was given a gold star and a reward of two squares of chocolate.  My blood sugar level was well down.  Yahoo.

However, the blood pressure was up to somewhere bordering dangerous and given this was the third time in a row of higher than normal blood pressure readings - More medication.  This really sent me down.  But I picked up again in a few days.

Now another two weeks later, having continued on the good eating path and started the exercise of 20-30 minutes in the pool 5 of the last 7 days and all intentions to continue I sit here contemplating what changes have occurred.

Feet and leg swelling - DOWN
Feet and leg pain - Much better
Feet and leg redness - the same.
Ability to wear closed in shoes - able but with discomfort and pressure marks/sore areas
Joint pain - slightly better - the knees aren't waking me in the middle of the night now...just the hips.
Energy levels - slightly more even
Weight loss - none
Ability to walk any distance - no
Feeling better within myself?  Probably not.

So why am I writing all this?  Cos I can and I need to vent it somewhere.
